MeshFin Trade (MF-14), the service for trade finance and guarantees, is one of the twenty-four MeshFin services, in the "Running products and operations" family, which follows the BIAN Operations and Execution business area. It covers the BIAN service domains Letter of Credit, Bank Guarantee, Credit Facility and Currency Exchange in whole or in part. Letters of credit, guarantees and trade loans issued from the facility; presented documents examined against the credit and the ICC rules with every discrepancy cited to its clause; amendments, expiries and claims tracked; and every acceptance, refusal and payment held for a person. It replaces trade finance system, document examination by hand, guarantee register spreadsheet and expiry diaries. AI agents carry the work end to end; a named person takes every decision with legal or financial effect on a customer, the balance sheet or a regulatory obligation. It is core for a universal and retail bank, occasional for a mutual and community bank, occasional for a non-bank lender and fintech.

Questions banks ask about MeshFin Trade

What does MeshFin Trade do?
MeshFin Trade is the MeshFin service for trade finance and guarantees. Letters of credit, guarantees and trade loans issued from the facility; presented documents examined against the credit and the ICC rules with every discrepancy cited to its clause; amendments, expiries and claims tracked; and every acceptance, refusal and payment held for a person. It reacts to events such as application received, documents presented and discrepancy found, and writes instrument, examination record with discrepancies, claim file and limit utilisation as records.
Which BIAN service domains does MeshFin Trade cover?
Letter of Credit, Bank Guarantee, Credit Facility and Currency Exchange, in the BIAN Operations and Execution business area, in whole or in part. The mapping is to the published BIAN Service Landscape; BIAN has not reviewed or endorsed MeshFin.
What systems does MeshFin Trade replace?
Trade finance system, Document examination by hand, Guarantee register spreadsheet and Expiry diaries. Because the service runs on the MeshFin platform, the licence, integration and upgrade costs of those systems retire with them.
What do the AI agents do in trade finance and guarantees?
The issuance agent prepares the instrument from the application and the facility, checks the limit and the sanctions position, and drafts it for release. The examination agent examines presented documents against the credit and the applicable ICC rules, and lists every discrepancy with the clause it breaches. The lifecycle agent tracks amendments, expiries, claims and releases, and keeps the facility utilisation current.
Which decisions does a person still take?
Agents never take a decision with legal or financial effect on a customer, the balance sheet or a regulatory obligation. In MeshFin Trade, a person decides acceptance or refusal of discrepant documents (trade finance officer), payment on a guarantee claim (delegated officer) and issuance outside the facility (credit approver). The record shows who decided, why, on what evidence and under which delegation.
